TV/ Clip - Surviving a Transition
Newlin’s Story
A transformative search for a new financial advisor in the early 2000’s led Newlin into wealth management. At the time, she was a rapidly rising television journalist juggling an infant, a talent agent, employment agreements, compensation packages and her 60-hour work week. Despite interviewing several candidates, Newlin noticed each advisor candidate spoke mostly to her husband. At that point, Newlin declared she would someday become the kind of advisor who engaged both spouses, understood more complex planning needs, and was interested in more than her portfolio of investments.
In 2008, at the start of the great recession, Newlin took a leap and left television to return to Duquesne University. She became a CFP and has been passionately working with highly placed executives and entrepreneurs ever since. She loves watching the trasnformation in her clients’ lives, growing along with them, and being their biggest advocate. Newlin is also the founder of a women’s initiative that provides a safe space for women executives in Pittsburgh to openly discuss their most pressing challenges.
